Vendors announce joint mobile UWB solution
Jan 1, 2007 12:00 PM

Alereon, a fabless semiconductor company and ultrawideband (UWB) technology developer, and wireless software company Stonestreet One have developed a wireless USB solution for Microsoft Windows Mobile and Windows CE embedded platforms. The solution consists of the Alereon AL4000 Wireless USB chipset, including the AL4300 Wireless USB media access controller/baseband processor powered by Stonestreet One's UltraSuite for Windows Mobile software and device drivers.

Consumer and mobile electronics OEM devices that support compact flash (CF) and SDIO interfaces using Microsoft Windows Mobile Edition can now incorporate this wireless technology and connect with both legacy wired USB and Certified Wireless USB equipment and platforms, as specified by the USB Implementers Forum.
