Aperto Networks and ADC deliver WiMAX solutions
Apr 1, 2006 12:00 PM

ADC and Aperto Networks have announced that ADC has entered into an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) agreement with Aperto Networks, to supply its carrier-grade WiMAX products as the Digivance WMX product family.

Under terms of the agreement, ADC will offer Digivance WMX WiMAX solutions to customers seeking a versatile platform for maximizing revenue opportunities. With this expansion of the Digivance portfolio, service providers can offer a broad range of voice, data and multimedia services while driving down costs incurred to scale their networks.

The Digivance WMX 5000 is designed for modular growth and service evolution, and operates in licensed and license-exempt bands. The Digivance WMX 5000 hardware is based on Aperto's PacketMAX technology and complies with the Advanced Open Telecom Platform (ATCA) open standard. The Digivance WMX WiMAX solution accommodates up to 12 wireless sectors in five units of rack space.

According to Infonetics Research, from an almost non-existent market in 2004, worldwide WiMAX revenue surged 759% in 2005, hitting $142.3 million. The international market research group forecasts the worldwide WiMAX equipment market to continue expanding, reaching $1.6 billion in 2009.
