Staccato Communications has announced that Asian Information Technology Inc. (AIT) is developing a line of production test equipment for products based on the company's Ripcord single-chip, all-CMOS solution. AIT is a Taiwan-based supplier that provides test equipment for hundreds of Bluetooth production lines throughout Asia.

“If Bluetooth history is any indicator of the future for certified wireless USB, Staccato has chosen a strong partner in AIT who is effective in developing cost-effective production tests for ODMs and OEMs bringing volume product to market. This experience should serve AIT and Staccato well in certified wireless USB,” said Fiona Thomson, market research analyst, wireless group, IMS Research. “This announcement is a sign that IMS' recent forecast, that the market will begin this year and then ramp up in 2007, is on track.”

“For certified wireless USB, Taiwan is a critical region,” said Jeff Ravencraft, chairman and president of the USB Implementers Forum.
