Recognizing the operational challenges faced by mobile operators, Telcordia Technologies Inc. has developed Auto RF, a state-of-the-art software that ensures a wireless network is working at its peak performance all day. It is tailored for CDMA- and WCDMA-based services. While the Auto RF tuned to CDMA networks is being deployed now, the WCDMA version is in trials in Europe.

One of the early implementers of Auto RF is MetroPCS Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of MetroPCS Communications Inc. MetroPCS has deployed it in its San Francisco, CA market. MetroPCS has increased call handling capacity in the San Francisco Bay area by 10% to 15% without adding networking equipment.

Auto RF enables operators to increase network traffic without spending more capital or compromising quality of service. As a next-generation answer to the challenges of radio access network (RAN) management, Auto RF is designed to adjust capacity to match traffic patterns quickly and accurately, improve service quality, maximize network coverage, and avoid service-degrading congestion.
