Ansoft Corporation Second Quarter Results

Ansoft Corp. (www.ansoft.com) announced its financial results for its second fiscal quarter ended October 31, 2002.

Revenue for the second quarter of fiscal 2003 totaled $10.6 million, an increase of 14 percent as compared sequentially to $9.3 million reported in the previous quarter and a decrease of 16 percent as compared to $12.5 million reported in the previous fiscal year's second quarter. Net loss for the second quarter of fiscal 2003 was $2.2 million, or $0.19 per diluted share, compared to a net loss of $65,000, or $0.01 per diluted share, reported for the same quarter in the prior fiscal year.

Anritsu Partners with CETECOM, Offers BT Test Solution

Anritsu Company (www.anritsu.co.jp) announced a partnership with Centro de Tecnologia de las Comunicaciones S.A. (CETECOM Spainwww.cetecom.es) that creates a complete Bluetooth test solution incorporating Anritsu's ME7865A Bluetooth pre-qualification test system and a discounted qualification process through CETECOM, a leading Bluetooth qualification test facility.

The partnership creates a one-stop solution for chip set developers, module manufacturers, and consumer product developers in need of a single, cost-effective solution that not only assures the performance of their Bluetooth radios but also provides a seamless Bluetooth qualification process the company says.

UK Start-up Wins $14 Million GPS Cell Phone Contract

Sarantel Ltd. (www.sarantel.com) has won an $14 million contract for its PowerHelix GPS antennas for use in cellular handsets. The helical devices will be incorporated into a cell phone handset product, providing a positioning capability which will meet the United States' emergency call E-911 mandate and for the growing location-based services market.

The antennas will be manufactured on Sarantel's assembly line in Wellingborough UK, and shipments will commence in January 2003.

Intel Invests $150 Million in 802.11

Intel Corp. (www.intel.com) announced plans to stimulate the growth of 802.11 technology by sinking $150 million into related technologies that aid in growing the infrastructure for wireless LANs. Additionally, Intel has launch its first mobile-specific processor, code-named Banias, slated for the first half of next year. Banias supports wireless connectivity to networks using 802.11a and 802.11b technology.

Metatron Signs Technology Agreement with QUALCOMM

Metatron Technologies Inc. (www.metatron-tech.com) has announcedthe signing of a test equipment license agreement with Qualcomm (www.qualcomm.com). The agreement enables Metatron to manufacture and sell wireless network testing and optimization solutions for WCDMA (UMTS) based wireless networks.

The license furthers Metatron efforts to build single platform solutions that can readily be configured for multiple wireless technologies the company says.

AMD to Push Flash into Embedded/Wireless Apps

Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (www.amd.com) created a wireless and embedded memory business units within its memory group.

The company said that the two business units would focus on customers' needs for flash memory devices in embedded applications, such as car navigation, entertainment systems, networking and telecommunications, as well as on the historically high volume wireless applications, such as advanced cellular phones.
