Chips simplify development, reduce system costs

Analog Devices introduces the AD977x family of dual-interpolating TxDAC+(R) converters for simpler direct RF upconversion architectures. The devices offer base station and broadband system designers a cost-effective solution for multi-carrier 3G transmitters, HDTV transmitters and satellite systems. The AD9777, AD9775 and AD9773 offer 16-, 14- and 12-bit resolution, respectively, support an input data rate of up to 160 Ms/s with 1x interpolation, and support a maximum DAC update rate of 400 Ms/s with 8x interpolation. The complex (I&Q) mixer rejects single sideband images, reducing the number of filtering stages, and therefore the cost of the hardware required to achieve 3G and broadband spectral emission specifications. The devices provide selectable 2x/4x/8x interpolation filters for improved noise performance, reduced input data rate requirements and simplified reconstruction filtering. The devices offer (depending upon model) W-CDMA operation, ACPR of -71 dBc @ IF = 71 MHz and IMD of -80 dBc as high as 30 MHz.

13-bit octal D/A converter

Signal Processing Technologies announces the SPT5420, an octal 13-bit, parallel-input, voltage-output, digital-to-analog converter tailored for automatic test equipment. The device features low power dissipation (195 mW) and ultrafast settling time (15 μs to ±0.5 LSB). The device is suitable for testers of memory, logic, mixed-signal semiconductors and instrumentation, and process control applications.
