Focus Enhancements readies UWB evaluation kit Aug 1, 2006 12:00 PM
Wireless video technologies developer Focus Enhancements Inc. has readied an ultrawideband (UWB) evaluation system targeting the development of both personal computer and consumer electronics applications. The platform contains a PCI card with both the Focus Enhancements' digital and analog UWB chips. The system performing in WiMedia MB-OFDM UWB mode was demonstrated earlier this month in Hillsboro, Ore. and Campbell, Calif. Brett Moyer, president and CEO of Focus Enhancements, stated, “Shipping UWB evaluation kits marks another key milestone in our industry-leading UWB program, and we are very excited to be driving toward commercialization. As a leader in video conversion technology for nearly 10 years, we have existing relationships with customers in both the PC and consumer electronics markets who want to incorporate this technology into their latest products.” “Our customers are anxious to create and test UWB applications in real world environments,” said Tom Hamilton, executive vice president and general manager for the Focus Enhancements' Semiconductor Group. “Our UWB evaluation systems will enable our partners and customers, who have significant software, firmware and application expertise, to accelerate product and market development. Leveraging the marketing strengths of our customers and technology partners by aggressively supporting their product development with our chipset will allow us to more rapidly address the needs of this exciting new UWB market.” For more information, visit www.focusinfo.com.
