Jadoo Power Systems Inc. has announced that Kuchera Defense Systems (KDS) has awarded Jadoo a contract to develop the next evolution in advanced fuel cell system designs.

Building upon the Jadoo IFS24 military development platform delivered earlier this year, the contract design will focus on system optimization and weight reduction. The end goal is the replacement of legacy battery technologies weighing close to 80 pounds with fuel cell power systems weighing 70% less.

Using Jadoo's N-Stor intelligent digital fuel interface, new fuel canisters will use advanced chemical hydrides. Compared to batteries, or rechargeable metal hydrides, one-time use chemical hydrides provide higher energy densities at a dramatically reduced weight.

The Jadoo fuel cell system combined with the N-Stor fuel canisters will allow power-hungry military applications such as robots, UAVs and laser designators, to take advantage of whatever advanced fuel and fuel cell technologies are to come.
