Extended Range Military Foil Resistors

Vishay Intertechnology Inc. announced that it extended the resistance range of the RNC90Z family of military established reliability foil resistors up to 121 kW with a TCR of 2.0 ppm/degree C. The resistors are military-qualified to MIL-PRF-55182/9 with characteristic “Z” limits. The new resistors are designed for use in military and aerospace applications and in other applications requiring established reliability and precision performance. The new devices offer a similarly priced alternative to the RNC90Y, with a broader resistance range from 100 W to 121 kW in addition to standard resistance tolerances from ±1.0 percent down to ±0.01 percent over an extended temperature range of -55° C to +175° C. The devices' power rating is 0.6 W at +70° C and 0.3 W at +125° C, with a maximum working voltage of 300 V. Pricing for U.S. delivery only starts at approximately $6.00, depending on tolerance and quantity.

Two-way Splitter for In-building Emergency Coverage

Microlab/FXR, a unit of Wireless Telecom Group Inc., announced a new low-cost 2-way wideband reactive power splitter. It covers bandwidth from 380 MHz to 2200 MHz, and includes Tetra, SMR/PMR, and all cellular bands, including the new 700 MHz and 3G (UMTS). It is well suited for designing passive in-building wireless distributed antenna systems now being required to meet homeland security issues, the company says. The extremely high reliability required of such DAS systems is most easily met with a passive network approach. The extremely low loss of reactive components, such as the D2-51FN, help make the passive design realizable without recourse to amplifiers or other active components, the company says. Such a passive approach enhances reliability, cuts installation cost and has a very high communications survival potential in an emergency situation. The D2-51FN is immediately available from stock.

SM Relays For High Insertion Loss Repeatability

Teledyne Relays, a unit of Teledyne Electronics and Communications, debuted the GRF100 and GRF103 series nonlatching electromechanical relays with improved RF signal repeatability over the frequency range. These ultraminiature surface-mount relays employ a butt-lead mounting scheme. They also feature a ground shield that insulates and shields each lead to ensure excellent contact-to-contact and pole-to-pole isolation. This ground shield also provides a ground interface that results in overall improved high-frequency performance, as well as parametric repeatability — specifically the RF insertion loss, which is ±0.1 dB The relays are designed for use in RF attenuators and other RF applications that require high-frequency signal fidelity and performance. Each model is available in two coil voltages — 5 VDC and 12 VDC. In addition to providing RF performance data such as insertion loss, isolation and VSWR, Teledyne Relays has expanded its relay characterization to include pulse rise time and propagation delay time. The relays are hermetically sealed to offer robust shock, vibration, temperature and ESD resistance, as well as EMI shielding.
