Instrument software tests components to 1xEV-DO

In recognition of the growing acceptance of the 1xEV-DO (1x Evolution-Data Only) enhancement to the cdma2000 wireless access method, Agilent Technologies introduces 1xEV-DO personalities for its PSA II Series spectrum analyzers and VSA E4406A vector signal analyzer. With the currently available 1xEV-DO measurement personalities for Agilent ESG vector signal generators and the 1xEV-DO design library for the Advanced Design System (ADS), Agilent offers a complete suite of tools for designers to accurately verify the performance of circuit designs and hardware for 1xEV-DO base stations. 1xEV-DO is an enhancement to cdma2000 air interface technology optimized for packet data transfer. It is one technique for enabling third-generation (3G) wireless communications systems to deliver Internet Protocol (IP)-based services such as e-mail, Web browsing, e-commerce and telematics.

LANutil Suite v.5.1 monitors network software usage

Vector Networks announces its LANutil v5.1 desktop management software. The version includes new features, including a passive metering tool that quantifies application usage by individual PC, allowing managers to record, evaluate and reduce wasted license fees for underused programs, and to stay in compliance with employed applications. The Package Policy Manager also assists the IT department in determining whether software is being underused due to the need for further training. In addition, the Package Policy Manager is redefined, enhanced and renamed. It also enables managers to define ideal application package deployments and identify rogue PCs. This tool provides managers with the power to determine who should and should not have particular software on their PCs. Comprehensive compliance reports filter out all cases where PCs and the software installed on them are incorrect.

Characterization software provides faster results

Keithley Instruments announces its Model 4200-SCS semiconductor characterization system. The new software, KTE Interactive v4.3, was developed by Keithley in response to application needs discovered at many semiconductor fabs around the world. Version 4.3 allows faster data collection and analysis, greater data-plotting precision, expanded support for legacy test program code, enhanced external control, and new user test libraries for C-V measurements. The software includes the Keithley Interactive Test Environment (KITE) module, a point-and-click interface that allows users to create comprehensive wafer test sequences without programming. KTE Interactive v4.3 software is an integral part of Keithley's Model 4200-SCS semiconductor characterization system. This system is used by product designers and process engineers to measure critical device characteristics on semiconductor wafers during product development, production, reliability testing, failure analysis, and incoming inspection.

Tools support Bluetooth software developers kit

TDK Systems announces its Go Blue wireless development toolkit to support Bluetooth software developers creating and testing new applications for the industry's handheld platform, the Palm OS. TDK Systems' latest in a series of Go Blue product releases is positioned to benefit as Bluetooth becomes increasingly relied on to activate systems and swap information using handheld devices. Included in the toolkit are two TDK Systems USB adapters, one USB 4way hub; a CD with all software including install, router app, TDK systems Palm drivers, Widcomm Bluetooth protocol stack, PID switch, Pocket Studio, help and installation documentation and references to online help. The kit uses TDK Systems' USB adapters to provide the Bluetooth links that enable the evaluation of applications. The tools are used in conjunction with the Palm Operating System Emulator (POSE) used to create fully integrated Palm applications. TDK has created a router that allows as many as 127 USB adapters to be virtually connected to individual POSE sessions, via a single PC. This allows the development and debugging of true Bluetooth applications, stressed to full Piconet capacity.
