Low-noise VCO for satellite modem systems

Z-Communications introduces the V590ME01 VCO for satellite modems. It delivers low phase-noise performance in a compact, low-profile package while covering a broad frequency range. This VCO generates frequencies between 900 and 1200 MHz within only 1 to 8 VDC of control voltage, making it suitable for quick integration. The V590ME01 realizes spectral purity of -102 dBc/Hz, typically, at 10 kHz from the carrier. It features 1.1:1 linearity over its broad frequency range and extended commercial temperature range of -40 to 85° C while suppressing the second harmonic to better than -10 dBc. This VCO will also conserve energy by operating off a 5 VDC supply while drawing only 25 mA and providing 10 ±2 dBm of output power into a 50Ω load. It will push less than 3 MHz/V within 5% of the nominal supply voltage and pull less than 10 MHz with a 14 dB return loss, any phase.
