Wireless test solutions provider expands into WiFi arena Jul 1, 2004 12:00 PM
Recognizing the need for innovative test solutions in the WiFI development and infrastructure space, wireless test solutions provider Comarco has inked a distribution deal with PCTEL. Consequently, Comarco will distribute PCTEL's PocketPC-based WiFi analyzer The analyzer, which operates on PocketPC platforms, permits users to optimize the performance of their WiFi networks, to detect “rogue” access points, and to manage various problems associated with interference. The terms of this agreement were not disclosed. According to Marty Singer, PCTEL's chairman and CEO, “In order for our technology to reach all of the potential markets, we need the market access that Comarco, an established player in test and measurement tools, can provide. We are delighted to be working with Comarco to open up additional markets for the analyzer.” “We surveyed the industry and we concluded that PCTEL's WiFi Analyzer represents the best product in the WiFi test and measurement space,” said Greg Maton, Comarco's senior vice president. “We are confident that the analyzer, under the Comarco brand, will be an effective product in our market.” Designed as a handheld test and security verification tool for WiFi networks, the analyzer helps to optimize installations of 2.4 GHz networks. This device monitors traffic, identifies regions and sources of interference, detects unwanted access points, reports throughput, and measures network and radio parameters.
