LVPECL and LVDS oscillators consume up to 50% less current Mar 20, 2008 11:35 AM
Fox Electronics is offering its XpressO LVPECL and LVDS oscillators with 2.5-volt operation and up to 50% less current than traditional 3.3-volt models. The new oscillators enable operation at the same voltage as the silicon chips to which they are providing timing, resulting in less current and heat generation. The FXO-PC72 and FXO-LC72 oscillators employ noise reducing DSM technology and low noise architecture, offering significantly low levels of jitter and phase noise. This series is designed for a variety of applications including SONET, Ethernet, storage area network, broadband access, microprocessors/DSP/FPGA, industrial controllers, test and measurement equipment, fiber channel and portable applications requiring low power usage, said Fox. The LVPECL and LVDS oscillators offer a frequency range of 0.75 MHz to 1.0 GHz and stabilities as tight as ±20 ppm and operate at temperatures of –20 °C to +70 °C or –40 °C to +85°C. The RoHS-compliant series is constructed of gold over nickel termination finish and features industry-standard packaging of 7 mm x 5 mm including footprint and pin-out. In addition, these oscillators offer Fox's new, patented serial identification system with comprehensive traceability to ensure quality control by tracing any product back to its original manufacturing lot, said the supplier. Pricing for XpressO LVPECL and LVDS versions will vary depending on the output, frequency and stability needed. A 2.5 V, ± 25 ppm, LVDS/LVPECL, 212.5 MHz oscillator costs $4.43 each in quantities of 1,000.
