Spotlight on Automotive Wireless Connectivity

Symmetricom, Inc. has announced that its president and CEO Thomas Steipp has joined the board of directors of the Alliance of Telecommunications Industry Solutions (ATIS). ATIS is a leading standards development and technical planning organization committed to rapidly developing and promoting technical and operations standards for the communications and information technologies industry.

"I am pleased to take part in the important work of ATIS," said Steipp. "Because of the pivotal role of synchronization and timing in the reliability of next generation networks, Symmetricom offers a critical perspective on the development of standards that will define future communications architectures and services. In addition, our growing role helping service providers optimize the quality of new services, such as IP-based video, enables us to bring focus to core issues that can be impacted by rapidly evolving standards. Symmetricom has long participated in the definition of key communications standards worldwide, and I look forward to making significant contributions to ATIS."

Steipp has served as Symmetricom's CEO since 1998. Prior to joining Symmetricom, he served as vice president and general manager of Broadband Data Networks, a division of Scientific-Atlanta.
