MicroMetrics, Inc., a manufacturer of semiconductor devices for commercial and military communications, has acquired Knox Semiconductor of Rockport, Maine. The acquisition adds new products and customers to the MicroMetrics portfolio and will enable MicroMetrics to expand its capabilities in ion-implanted tuning varactors. "The acquisition of Knox Semiconductor is an exciting announcement for MicroMetrics and an important component for our growth strategy," said Jim Morgan, CEO of MicroMetrics. The Knox facility in Rockport will be maintained as a technology center for MicroMetrics efforts in product development and manufacturing. The facility will continue to produce and manufacture the devices currently offered by Knox and will provide MicroMetrics added engineering and technical support for new products. Established in 1986, MicroMetrics, Inc. is a privately held manufacturer of standard and custom RF/microwave diodes and other semiconductor devices. Knox Semiconductor is a manufacturer of commercial and military tuning varactor diodes, JAN-qualified current limiter diodes and zener diodes. Knox was established in 1974.
