ADC delivers 16-bit performance for military applications
Aug 23, 2007 3:32 PM

The ADS-939 sampling ADC from C&D Technologies is a fully integrated data acquisition system that gives true 16-bit resolution performance at a 10 MHz sampling rate over the entire operating temperature range, up to full military. The functionally complete design requires no external components and is housed in a small, high reliability, hermetically sealed, 40-pin ceramic TDIP. Typical applications include medical imaging, radar, sonar, communications and instrumentation.

The rising edge triggered ADS-939 is ideal for use in both time and frequency domain applications. It accurately samples full-scale input signals with no missing codes up to Nyquist frequencies and across the full operating temperature range. The dynamic performance of the device includes an SNR of 82 dB, and a THD of –86 dB at Nyquist input frequency.

Digital input and output levels are TTL. Able to operate from a ±5 V, ±12 V or ±15 V supply, the ADS-939 dissipates 1.5 W. The device is a pin-for-pin replacement of the ADS-935 (16-bit, 5 MHz ADC), and is offered with a bipolar (±2.75 V) or a unipolar (0 V to -5.5 V) analog-input range. Pricing is under $700 in OEM quantities.
