Serial-controlled six-bit digital attenuator and 100 dB isolation switch module unveiled May 10, 2006 12:44 PM
Hittite Microwave has introduced a 0.5 dB LSB, six-bit serial control digital attenuator module and a 100 dB isolation single-pole single-throw (SPST) switch module that are ideal for fiber-optic, microwave-radio, military and space applications up to 20 GHz. The HMC-C018 is a dc to 13 GHz, 0.5 dB LSB six-bit digital attenuator with serial control and is housed in a miniature, hermetic, connectorized module. This wideband attenuator module features 3.6 dB insertion loss, +38 dBm input IP3 and 31.5 dB total attenuation. The HMC-C018 is controlled by a six-bit, serial word and exhibits excellent an attenuation accuracy of ±0.3 dB. The HMC-C019 is a high-speed, high-isolation GaAs MESFET (metal-semiconductor-field-effect-transistor) SPST switch also housed in a miniature, hermetic, connectorized module. Covering dc to 20 GHz, the HMC-C019 features 100 dB isolation up to 4 GHz, and 65 dB isolation up to 20 GHz. This SPST switch module exhibits a very fast switching speed of 8.5 nanoseconds and very low switching transients of 20 mV peak to peak, making it ideal for high-speed, RF pulse-modulation applications. The HMC-C019 can be operated by a 0±5 V voltage source and features a non-reflective topology. The HMC-C018 and HMC-C019 modules are rated for operation from –55 ºC to +85 ºC and can be assembled and screened for military and space applications.
