A $225 million contract for close-in weapons systems Nov 14, 2007 3:08 PM
Raytheon has been awarded a $225 million contract for MK 15 Phalanx Close-In Weapon Systems (CIWS) Block 1B upgrade and conversion equipment. Also, the award covers a U.S. Army Block 1B land-based Phalanx Weapon System (LPWS) upgrade and conversion equipment, U.S Army Block 1B LPWSs and associated spares and support equipment. The Army is deploying a land-based system known as the Land-based Phalanx Weapon System. This effort includes purchases for the governments of Portugal and Australia under the Foreign Military Sales Program. Work will be performed at nine locations in as many states. The Naval Sea Systems Command, Washington Navy Yard, Washington D.C. is the contracting activity.
