Contract awarded to test emergency evacuation plan at the Port of Jacksonville, Florida
Aug 23, 2005 4:48 PM

Environmental Tectonics Corporation (ETC) has been awarded a contract by the University of Central Florida's Center for Advanced Transportation Systems Simulation to use ETC's advanced disaster management simulator (ADMS) to conduct a training demonstration exercise at the Port of Jacksonville, FL.

Major seaports are prime targets for terrorists to cause major disruption. The Maritime Transportation Security Act of 2002 prescribed standards and mandated continued improvement for port security. Evolving a better understanding of the threats, vulnerabilities, and best response actions is a complex challenge. This project will be the first time virtual reality simulation will be used to perform a vulnerability assessment and validation of a major seaport's emergency evacuation plan.

ETC develops, installs and maintains aircrew training systems, process simulation systems (sterilization and environmental), environmental testing and simulation systems, and related products for domestic and international customers.
