Spotlight on Automotive Wireless Connectivity

Hittite Microwave Corporation has announced a new family of GaAs MMIC fundamental mixers, I/Q mixers and sub-harmonic IRM mixers, in chip form, that provide broad frequency coverage from 19 to 90 GHz. These Velocium GaAs MMIC mixer products are well suited for a wide range of applications, including microwave radio, wideband communication systems, radar and test instrumentation.

Due to their small size, these Velocium GaAs MMIC mixer products are well suited for integration into microstrip, multi-chip modules and hybrid circuits.

The first member of this family, the HMC-MDB172 is a monolithic 19- to -33 GHz GaAs MMIC I/Q mixer that operates as either an image reject mixer (IRM) or as a single sideband upconverter. This passive I/Q mixer features an IF bandwidth of DC to 5 GHz, a LO-to-RF isolation of 35 dB and 25 dB of image rejection.

The HMC-MDB171 is a monolithic 35- to 45-GHz GaAs MMIC I/Q mixer that operates as either an image reject mixer or as a single sideband upconverter. This passive I/Q mixer features an IF bandwidth of DC to 5 GHz, a LO-to-RF isolation of 35 dB and 25 dB of image rejection.

The HMC-MDB218 is a sub-harmonically pumped 54- to 64-GHz (x2) GaAs MMIC mixer that features a wide IF bandwidth of DC to 3 GHz, and operates with LO frequencies from 27 to 32 GHz. This passive sub-harmonic mixer may be used as either an IRM or as a single sideband upconverter providing up to 30 dB of image rejection.

The HMC-MDB207 is a monolithic 55- to 64-GHz GaAs MMIC I/Q mixer that operates as either an IRM or as a single sideband upconverter. This passive MMIC mixer features an IF bandwidth of DC to 3 GHz, provides 30 dB of image rejection, and a LO-to-RF isolation of 30 dB.

The HMC-MDB169 is a passive 54- to 64-GHz double balanced MMIC mixer that operates as either an upconverter or a downconverter. This compact mixer features wide IF bandwidth of DC to 5 GHz, 8 dB of conversion loss and a LO-to-RF isolation of 30 dB and LO-to-IF isolation is 25 dB.

The HMC-MDB277 is a passive 70- to 90-GHz double balanced MMIC mixer that operates as either an upconverter or a downconverter. This mixer features wide IF bandwidth of DC to 18 GHz, 12 dB of conversion loss and operates with up to +14 dBm of LO input power.

Die products are available from stock and can be ordered via the company's e-commerce site or via direct purchase order.
