Model V1121 is a conduction-cooled 10-Gigabit Ethernet (10GbE) XMC module with dual front-panel optical interfaces. It is designed for harsh environments and as well as hostile electromagnetic-interference (EMI) conditions by means of its optical connections. It is ideal for real-time systems including applications requiring situational awareness, signals intelligence, and network security. Built with a Xilinx Virtex-5 FPGA, it shares the same architecture as other field-proven AdvancedIO 10GbE products. The V1121 also has two SFP+ optical 10GbE interfaces, independent large banks of memory for buffering packets, and additional interfaces to facilitate synchronization and time stamping. The module interfaces to the host fabric via PCI Express.
According to Rob Kraft, VP Marketing at AdvancedIO Systems, “Customers have determined—sometimes as a result of painful previous experiences like running cables through exterior bulkheads in harsh environments—that copper interconnects present too many challenges. In these situations, optical links provide a far simpler alternative.” Air-cooled versions are also available.
