PIN Switches Bear 100 W CW
Jun 3, 2009 3:37 PM

The MSW2000 series of silicon PIN diode switches from Aeroflex/Metelics offers power-handling capabilities of 100 W CW over frequency bands of 20 to 700 MHz and 400 to 4000 MHz. The switches, which incorporate PIN diodes on ceramic substrates, include single-pole, double-throw (SPDT) units with insertion loss of only 0.2 dB and isolation of 40 dB. In addition to 100 W CW, the switches can handle +57 dBm peak power for a 50-microsecond pulse width at 10-percent duty cycle. The RoHS-compliant switches, which can operate from +5, +28, and +50-VDC supplies, are available in surface-mount packages measuring just 8 x 5 x 2.5 mm.

According to Fred Gilligan, Director of Product Development at Aeroflex/Metelics, “This surface-mount switch product family provides exceptional switching performance versus comparable MMIC products to meet the growing high volume, high-performance requirements in the Military Radio, IED, and WiMax market segments.”
