Universal transceiver supports MIL-STD-1553 and MIL-STD-1760 Feb 7, 2006 6:17 PM
Aeroflex Plainview has introduced the ACT4462D, a universal transceiver for avionics use that combines and supports MIL-STD-1553, MIL-STD-1760--as well as MacAir (A-3818, A-4905, A-5232 and A-5690), and H009 (F-15) bus operation. The ACT4462D is a variable-amplitude, dual-channel, pin-selectable, 24-lead hermetically sealed IC. It is a cost-effective solution for system designers because a single transceiver can be used for various system applications. In addition, it is suited for H009/MacAir/1553/1760 test equipment manufacturers. The ACT4462D enables the user to optimize system performance by pin-selecting bus operation, as well as externally setting the receiver threshold and output amplitude for either channel independently. It also reduces inventory by reducing the stocking to a single component that will integrate into either an H009 bus or a MacAir/1553 bus. The low-power monolithic transceiver design improves thermal management thereby increasing product reliability. Aeroflex’s ACT4462D operates at ±12 V to ±15 V and features +5 V logic power supplies and a voltage source output for better performance with variations in bus loading. The transceiver supports a typical 21 Vp-p on the stub, exceeding the MIL-STD-1760 amplitude requirements. The ACT4462D is processed and screened in accordance with the individual test methods of MIL-PRF-38534. It enables avionic designers to use one transceiver that is compatible with the many different military communication bus standards. It goes one step further by supporting variable amplitude and external threshold control. The ACT4462D is available in a 24-pin ceramic hermetic plug-in package (one of the smallest available at 1.25" x 0.61" x 0.200" ht.). It is screened to MIL-PRF-38534 Class H. (A standard microcircuit drawing (SMD) number will be issued.) The price for the ACT4462D military-screened series in 100-piece quantities is $475.
