A low-noise, bandwidth-upgradable oscilloscope series Feb 21, 2006 12:23 PM
Agilent Technologies Inc. has introduced its Infiniium 80000B series, which offers superior signal integrity and probing, enhancing signal-integrity performance and provides investment protection for multi-gigahertz bandwidth oscilloscopes. The 80000B series is said to be the industry's lowest-noise oscilloscope and also the industry's only bandwidth-upgradable series. Each model of the series offers the industry's lowest noise floor at its particular bandwidth. Additional signal integrity advantages of the series include what are said to be the industry's lowest jitter measurement floor, lowest trigger jitter and flattest frequency response. The higher the bandwidth of an oscilloscope, the more subject it is to increased intrinsic noise. Higher levels of intrinsic noise will degrade every measurement the oscilloscope makes. The oscilloscope that makes the best measurement will not be the one with the higher bandwidth but rather the one with sufficient bandwidth that has the lowest intrinsic noise floor. The unique bandwidth upgradability of the Infiniium 80000B series enables engineers to select the appropriate bandwidth needed for their particular application today-then upgrade oscilloscope performance as the next project moves on to more advanced technology. Infiniium application software is available for the Infiniium 80000B series. There are 23 application packages that can assist engineers designing high-speed serial buses, RF and wireless products and other ultrahigh-speed electronics. The Agilent Infiniium DSO80000B Series of 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12 and 13 GHz real-time oscilloscopes are available for order.
