U.S. Air Force to fund obsolescence management Feb 21, 2006 12:14 PM
Manufacturing Technology Inc. (MTI) has been awarded a 12-month, $7.3 million follow-on contract by the 542nd Combat Sustainment Wing (CSW), Warner Robins Air Logistics Center, Robins Air Force Base, Georgia. The company will provide obsolescence management support for more than 1800 systems, subsystems, and support equipment used on multiple aircraft types and ground equipment. The work will be performed primarily at the MTI's Warner Robins, Ga facility. Under the contract, MTC will load new systems and perform data updates and maintenance for the advanced components obsolescence management (AVCOM) analysis tool used by the 542nd CSW for system support. AVCOM is an MTI software product used for system logistics support and obsolescence management. The work will include providing specialized engineering services and materials to load avionics systems bills of materials into the database, to track part availability problems, to compare current sources of supply, and to identify vendors and organic sources for sustainment efforts. MTC, through its wholly-owned subsidiaries, delivers warfighter solutions involving systems engineering, information technology, intelligence, and program management services primarily to the Department of Defense.
