Department of Defense selects disk and USB drive encryption solutions supplier

The Department of Defense and the General Services Administration have selected SafeNet Inc. as the top vendor of disk and file encryption solutions for all federal government agencies and select state and local governments under the U.S. government's Enterprise Software Initiative (ESI) SmartBUY program. The ESI SmartBUY initiative optimizes federal buying processes to streamline deployments of enterprise-level software and achieve cost savings.
ProtectDrive secures sensitive data on laptops, workstations and servers, as well as USB drives, against theft or accidental loss. It is offered under the SmartBUY program with advantages, including the inclusion of SafeNet ProtectPack, a file encryption utility featuring FIPS 140-2 validation, as well as BSEC PK smart card middleware.

ProtectDrive encrypts data with SafeNet's FIPS 140-2, level 2-certified cryptographic eXtensions library. ProtectDrive is common criteria (CC) EAL2 certified (EAL4 in process. Also ProtectDrive has been recommended by the U.S. Army JITC STIG to the U.S. Department of Defense. For increased security, ProtectDrive easily integrates with strong two-factor authentication using a token or smart card, including the DoD Common Access Card (CAC).
