LXI-certified function/arbitrary waveform generator unveiled
May 24, 2006 6:20 PM

Agilent Technologies Inc. has introduced what is said to be the first LXI-certified, 20 MHz function/arbitrary waveform generator with variable-edge pulses and pulse-width modulation. The updated Agilent 33220A provides engineers in the aerospace and military product industries with excellent performance for the design, verification and test of electronic components, sub-assemblies and end products.

According to Scott Sampl, vice president and general manager of Agilent's system products division, there are currently more than 40 worldwide test and measurement companies dedicated to delivering on the LXI standard. LXI is the next-generation, LAN-based modular architecture standard for automated test systems managed by the LXI Consortium, a not-for-profit corporation comprising leading test and measurement companies. The group's goals are to develop, support and promote the LXI standard.

LXI's compact, flexible package, high-speed I/O, and prolific use of LAN meet the needs of aerospace defense engineers developing radar, electronic warfare, satellite and military communications systems. Additional information about the LXI Consortium's product offerings, licensing, specifications and membership is available at its web site.

Agilent has 47 LXI-certified products, including the 34980A switch measurement unit, L4400 LXI switch modules, 34410A/34411A digital multimeters, N8200 synthetic instrument family, N6700B series low-profile modular power system and N5700 series system dc power supplies.
