Connectorized wideband amplifier modules cover 0.01 GHz to 27 GHz
Feb 7, 2006 6:25 PM

Hittite Microwave Corporation has introduced six wideband connectorized amplifier modules that are suited for military, space and microwave radio applications from 0.01 GHz to 27 GHz.

The HMC-C023 and the HMC-C026 are wideband power amplifier modules that operate from 2 GHz to 20 GHz and deliver +26 dBm of output (P1dB). The HMC-C026 also features a 3 dB noise figure at midband, and 29 dB of gain, enabling it to be used as a replacement for two or more amplifier stages in applications that require higher gain.

The HMC-C016, HMC-C017 and HMC-C022 are wideband, low-noise amplifier modules with frequency coverage from 2 GHz to 27 GHz. They exhibit noise figures as low as 2 dB up to 22 dB of gain and +18 dBm of output (P1dB).

For applications that require operation at lower frequencies, the HMC-C024 wideband driver amplifier module covers 10 MHz to 20 GHz. It delivers 15 dB gain, a 3 dB noise figure and +23 dBm of output (P1dB). The HMC-C024 also exhibits ± 2 degrees of deviation from linear phase, and a saturated output voltage of 10 V peak-to-peak, making it suited for OC192 fiber-optic LN/MZ modulator driver applications.

The RF I/Os of each of these hermetic modules are internally matched to 50 Ohms and are internally dc blocked for added protection. Removable SMA connectors are provided to enable mating with standard coaxial cable assemblies-—or the connectors can be quickly detached for direct connection of the module's I/O pins to a microstrip or grounded coplanar printed-circuit board. Integrated dc voltage regulators allow for flexible biasing of the negative and positive supply inputs, while internal bias sequencing circuitry assures robust operation. Each of these amplifier modules is unconditionally stable, rated for operation from -55 ºC to +85 ºC and can be assembled and screened for military and space applications.

All of the connectorized module products are available from stock.
