Products | The HE-1920 is the latest in Digital View’s HE series of off-the-shelf COTS LCD controllers Apr 1, 2008 12:00 PM LCD controller handles harsh environment
The HE-1920 is the latest in Digital View's HE series of off-the-shelf COTS LCD controllers designed to comply with the strict standards required for the harsh environments encountered in military and rugged industrial applications. Designed to aid manufacturers building hardened panel display systems requiring advanced capabilities such as high resolution and high definition, the HE-1920 features wide tolerance power supplies (12 Vdc ± 25%), locking connectors and low-mass tantalum capacitors for maximum tolerance to shock and vibration, Mil-spec silicon resin conformal coatings, a laboratory-certified operating temperature range of -40 °C to +80 °C, and calculated MTBF in excess of 100K hours, with full RoHS compliance. A fully buffered multisync interface controller, the HE-1920 provides analog and digital connections — PC, DVI and video interface — for a wide range of TFT LCD panels up to WUXGA resolution (1920 × 1200 pixels). It features full-screen image expansion of lower resolutions, image flip and invert functions, and onscreen PIP functions. The HE-1920 also features a 16-bit ITU 605 bus connector designed to permit developers to independently create proprietary hardware interfaces for the controller. The interfaces provide software-managed selection pins to manage multiple input configurations. Typical examples include optical inputs, additional ports and HD-SDI. The HE-1920 measures 179 mm × 120.4 mm (7-in. × 4.74-in.), and comes with a three-year warranty. The HE-1920 is priced at $269.00 each in 1,000-unit quantities.
Military-grade power supply
AMREL pushes the power envelope to enclose 1.2 kW in a 16 × 7.5 × 3.5 inches package. The new MFP-1200 is a more powerful, clean and MIL-STD rugged 28 Vdc source. Convection-cooled 1.2 kW output, it offers wide range 95% PFC input and a precision-regulated dc output with less than 5 mVrms noise. The military-grade MFP-1200 effectively offers more than a 30% power increase versus the competing products, said AMREL. Without sacrificing performance, the conformal-coated internal dc power engine is enclosed in a rain-, dust-, sleet- and sand-resistant package, sealed watertight and extensively tested under temperature cycles from -40 °C to 65 °C. Electrically speaking, the MFP-1200 uses an innovative PFC design that takes 95 ~ 250 Vac/45~440 Hz ac input and also can run off of 95 ~ 250 Vdc, a unique feature specific to MFP-1200. For applications with a 400 Hz ac generator or a dc power source, plug in MFP-1200, and power devices on an aerial or ground vehicle with an adjustable dc voltage from 24 ~ 28 Vdc @ 1.2 kW. The MFP-1200 generates a precision-regulated dc output with a ripple of 5 mVrms, providing an ideal source for noise-sensitive devices. Designed according to MIL-STD810D shock and vibration standards as well as MIL-STD 461E EMI/RFI standards, the MFP-1200 is a clean, tough and powerful dc source. Obtaining JANS certification
Semtech Corp. has announced that the Defense Supply Center Columbus (DSCC) has granted JANS certification to its power discretes and assembly (PDA) group facility located in Reynosa, Mexico. The wafer facility is certified for compliance with MIL-PRF-19500N. Compliance means that Semtech Corpus Christi S.A. de C.V. is considered a certified manufacturer eligible to qualify and supply JANS silicon power rectifiers, and transient voltage suppressor (TVS) diodes in axial leaded, glass-bodied and surface-mount packages in accordance with the requirements of MIL-PRF-19500N. “This is a first milestone toward complete certification, and demonstrates our commitment in supporting all high-reliability and space-industry customers,” said Jose Vargas, vice president, Power Discretes Business for Semtech. “We're eager to engage with our key customers in the space industry, added Vargas.” The Reynosa facility has been producing high-voltage military and commercial power discrete products since 1990. It is ISO 9001:2000 certified and MIL-PRF-19500 qualified. Synchronous step-down regulator
Linear Technology has released a military plastic-grade (MP-grade) version of the LTC3404. The LTC3404 is a high efficiency, 1.4 MHz synchronous buck regulator using a constant frequency, current-mode architecture. It can deliver up to 600 mA of continuous output current at voltages as low as 0.8 V from a MSOP-8 package. It operates from an input voltage of 2.65 V to 6 V, making it suitable for single cell Li-Ion, or NiMH applications, as well as general-purpose fixed rail systems. With up to 95% efficiency and only 10 µA of quiescent current, the LTC3404 is aimed at handheld applications, which require maximum battery run-time. The MP-grade version operates over a -55 °C to +125 °C operating junction temperature range, and is guaranteed and tested across the full temperature range. All electrical specifications are identical to the E and I grade versions of this part. The MP versions are suitable for military and aerospace applications, which are subjected to extreme ambient temperatures. The LTC3404MPMS8 is available in an MSOP-8 package. Pricing starts at $4.89 each for 1,000-piece quantities.
