M/A-COM signs XM982 TTM contract with Raytheon Missiles Systems
Oct 21, 2004 2:59 PM

M/A-COM, a business unit of Tyco Electronics and a provider of wireless RF, microwave and millimeter-wave components, announced that it has signed an initial development contract with Raytheon Missiles Systems for tactical telemetry modules (TTM) for the XM982 "Excalibur" projectile program.

Lowell, Mass.-based M/A-COM's TTM is a highly integrated module that includes signal conditioning, data encoding, a high-efficiency S-Band transmitter and power control functions. The TTM will telemeter critical on-board sensor and system health information during the projectile's flight and will be used throughout the life cycle of the projectile.

This contract is a result of M/A-COM's continued investment in robust data link technologies for harsh environments, which includes previous development contract successes with the U.S. Army's Hardened Subminiature Telemetry and Sensor System (HSTSS) Program.

With headquarters in Waltham, Mass., Raytheon company showed sales of $18.1 billion in 2003 and is a player in defense and government electronics, space, information technology, technical services, and business and special mission aircraft.
