PureTech System Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Pure Technologies Ltd. and manufacturer of wide-area video surveillance solutions has integrated its PureActiv solution with the Andover Continuum access control system from TAC, a developer of building automation, security systems and energy solutions. The system’s designer chose the best technology from these two companies to heighten security measures at water treatment and storage facilities throughout the city of Phoenix.

“Combining our access control system with PureTech System’s PureActiv wide-area video surveillance technology proved to be an effective security solution for the city’s major utility,” said Warren Rosebraugh, director of strategic account operations at TAC. “Integrating our two products was a seamless process.”

The city selected PureTech’s PureActiv solution for its unique video capabilities. “We were able to provide the city of Phoenix with some really unique features in the video surveillance world—-including automated camera positioning based on the actual latitude and longitude of intruders, remote alarm monitoring of the city’s water facilities from a common GIS command and control user interface, and video scene analysis for object detection and tracking,” said Larry Bowe, president of PureTech Systems.

The situational awareness capability is made possible with PureActiv’s interactive geographical map presentation, which uses latitude and longitude coordinates to create detailed map displays that clearly identify the locations of all security devices, cameras and alarms. The system also incorporates aerial photos, street names and critical building locations into the display. By allowing personnel to control any of the devices represented on these maps, PureActiv ensures that operators, in an intuitive manner, always know which camera they’re viewing and which direction it’s pointing.
