RF component library supports Ansoft's Designer and Nexxim software Nov 11, 2004 3:18 PM
Ansoft Corp. and Taiyo Yuden have released a new library of device models for Ansoft Designer and Nexxim, based on Taiyo Yuden's high-density miniaturized surface-mount components. This component library is aimed at helping engineers design electronic equipment, such as wireless local area networks (WLANs), car navigation systems, base stations and cellular handsets, by providing accurate electrical responses and mechanical layout features for manufacturing. "Taiyo Yuden is excited to offer a highly accurate RF component library to support design engineers utilizing Ansoft Designer and Nexxim software," said Hirokazu Chazono, senior operating officer, product development headquarters, Taiyo Yuden. "Our HK series of multilayer chip inductors for high frequency are the de facto standard occupying a worldwide market share of 50 percent among developers of high-frequency modules." The library consists of three principle passive surface-mount components:
The components in the new library offer distinctive features for enhanced accuracy and simulation speed. Each component uses S-parameter data based on Taiyo Yuden's advanced characterization lab for accuracy and fewer prototype cycles. Additionally, each component can use a built-in frequency-dependent equivalent circuit for a 4x speedup in simulation time over the S-parameter-based model simply by toggling the component's model attribute. The library is available from Taiyo Yuden's Web site (www.t-yuden.com) and is easy to download and configure for use within Ansoft Designer/Nexxim. This site provides Ansoft customers with the ability to search for components by name, performance data or other specification. Taiyo Yuden will maintain model support and upgrades, while Ansoft will address all customer support for Ansoft Designer/Nexxim.
