Staccato Communications and Fujitsu Limited have signed an agreement that will enable Fujitsu Limited to distribute and sell Staccato's Ripcord family of ultra-wideband (UWB) product solutions for certified wireless USB. Under the terms of the non-exclusive sales agreement, Fujitsu has the ability to sell the entire family of Ripcord products, including development kits, software drivers, silicon and system-in-package (SiP) products, through Fujitsu sales channels. Fujitsu has also retained a license to Staccato's media access controller (MAC) technology for inclusion in Fujitsu ASICs and ASSP product lines requiring certified wireless USB functionality. This includes Fujitsu Milbeaut products, which hold a large share of the worldwide digital still camera market. Both companies will jointly market Ripcord products worldwide.
Staccato's Ripcord products are single-chip, all-CMOS products fully integrated into complete systems-in-package (SiP) to enable sub-$10 cost per node, small form factor, low and efficient power consumption, and 480 Mbps wireless USB connectivity.
