M/A-Com, a business unit of Tyco Electronics, was recently recognized by the Toxic Use Reduction Institute (TURI) at the University of Massachusetts Lowell for its technological leadership and participation in the Electronics Supply Chain Initiative and the Massachusetts Lead-Free Electronics Consortium.

"We are honored to accept TURI's recognition as a technology leader in pursuing environmentally safe products and manufacturing processes here in Massachusetts," said Joe Thomas, vice president of M/A-COM's Integrated Products Group. "At M/A-Com, we are continually striving to exceed the industry standards for lead-free solutions. To this end we look forward to closely working with the TURI today and in the future."

The TURI researches, tests and promotes alternatives to toxic chemicals used in Massachusetts industries and communities. It provides the resources and tools to make Massachusetts a safer place to live and work. TURI supports economic competitiveness of local businesses through improved efficiency, compliance stability and reduced risk.
