Alliance Supports Low-Cost GPS Implementations Sep 18, 2008 3:23 PM
RMI Corporation, a leading provider of high-performance processors for communication and media, has increased its partner alliance members to include CSR and SiGe Semiconductor. These new partners were selected to work with RMI to deliver a low-cost Global Positioning System (GPS) implementation in RMI's mPND reference solution. The design is based on the company's Alchemy line of processors for multifunction navigation devices. CSR offers an optimized software GPS application with the baseband function implemented in software, while SiGe Semiconductor provides the radio portion of the design. The SiGe SE4120 receiver IC integrates a low-noise amplifier (LNA), low IF receiver, and other components needed for GPS signal reception. It provides serialized data output to facilitate software signal processing. CSR (www.csr.com)
