Middle East customs agency awards $20 million follow-on order for x-ray detection equipment to secure seaports Dec 26, 2007 2:14 PM
American Science and Engineering, Inc. has been awarded a $20 million follow-on order from a Middle East customs agency to fund the second phase of a $45-million contract for multiple OmniView Gantry shaped energy systems. The first phase of the contract had been funded at $25 million in March of 2006. The OmniView Gantry shaped-energy system is a multi-view, multi-technology capability that provide manifest verification and detection of threats and contraband. This shaped energy system is said to be the only multi-view relocatable system available that The system also provides high penetration into inspected objects. The system's scanning platform operates by moving on rails past stationary vehicles and cargo. The system is bi-directional allowing for a throughput of approximately 2 trucks per scan, or 24 trucks per hour.
