Office of Naval Research funds program to advance communications systems in unmanned vehicles Jul 26, 2005 6:33 PM
Innovative Concepts Inc. has been funded to provide communications systems to support unmanned, unattended and untethered drones organized in "swarms" on the ground, in the air, and on the water to meet the requirements of combat zone missions. The company will transform the Office of Naval Research OpenMesh system, from ad-hoc routing protocols and high-speed connectivity into robust and reliable systems comprised of radio technology, routing algorithms, military-mission system specifications and "swarm" capabilities. John M. Kelley, president of Herley Industries, the parent company of Innovative Concepts, stated, "Innovative Concepts continues to extend its technology into key communication applications for manned and unmanned vehicles. Our product suite, known as IDM Technology, plus our software and systems engineering will play an integral role in Herley's growth strength." Innovative Concepts Inc. is a communications technology development firm specializing in the research, design, development, production and support of wireless data communications products and services. Their expertise includes: the product suite of IDM Technology, software and systems engineering, hardware development, and aerospace technical services.
