High-frequency Type N connectors are often installed in sites that are exposed to the environment and must provide high levels of electrical performance in spite of these harsh environmental conditions. For these challenging applications, the RF Connectors Division of RF Industries has developed an improved Type N male solderless connector for use with 0.400-in.-diameter coaxiable cables. The connector, part number RFN-1006-I-WB, features white bronze plating for a nontarnish finish with enhanced electrical performance. The plating is ferrous metal free, which reduces inter-modulation distortion (IMD). A ridged back end provides better sealing for the heat shrink boot included with the connector. A combination hex/knurl coupling nut allows for wrench or finger mating. The connector may be attached to multiple brands of high performance cables including Times LMR®-400, Andrew CNT®-400, CommScope WBC®-400, and Belden®¬RF-400. The solderless connector is assembled with industry standard crimp tools with 0.429- in. and 0.118-in hex dies. The contact design includes a “weep hole” for optional solder installation.
