Cable Assembly Has 12 Phase Matched Arms
Jul 31, 2008 4:24 PM

A connector and semirigid cable assembly developed by ITT Interconnect Solutions features 12 branches that are phase matched within ±2 deg. at 3 GHz, and a press-fit connector contact that is rated for operating temperatures to +250°C and an operating lifespan of 25 years.

As Keith Teichmann, director of marketing for ITT Interconnect Solutions, explains, "The component was developed to meet a customer requirement for an RF connector with a pin contact compliant with the customer's equipment, along with the extended operating temperature. Since many applications only reach +200°C, we offer the RF cable assemblies with two dielectric materials to best meet customer's specification and cost requirements."

To reach the higher temperatures, the assembly features a silicone dioxide dielectric material, while for applications to +200°C, the cable assembly can be constructed with PTFE dielectric material. The RF connector sets are specified for use in military and industrial applications where reliable performance at high-temperatures for a prolonged period of time is required.
