Amplifier Aims At 3G/4G Femtocells
Nov 13, 2008 11:03 AM

The AWB7220 amplifier multichip module (MCM) from ANADIGICS targets the emerging 3G/4G femtocell and customer-premises-equipment (CPE) markets. The amplifier is designed for use with OFDMA waveforms at frequencies from 2.5 to 2.7 GHz. It delivers +28 dBm output power (+35 dBm at 1-dB compression) over that range, with 30 dB gain. It is supplied in a 7 x 7 x 1 mm surface-mount package and is matched for 50-ohm systems.

Joe Cozzarelli, Director of Wireless Infrastructure and 4G Products for ANADIGICS, explains "the femtocell market is an exciting place to be right now. It’s a milestone in the convergence between consumer electronics and commercial network infrastructure. We’re leveraging ANADIGICS’ proven, core GaAs technology and our engineering expertise to design and manufacture a comprehensive product line with the exceptional linearity, high power, optimized performance and integrated functionality required by femtocell equipment designers and manufacturers."
