FDD/TDD Amplifier Drives LTE Systems
Dec 16, 2008 6:08 PM

Skyworks Solutions has developed a power amplifier module (PAM) suitable for multimode, multiband frequency-division-duplex (FDD), time-division-duplex (TDD) fourth-generation (4G) Long Term Evolution (LTE) wireless communications systems. The PAM targets LTE-TDD bands 38 and 40 which are expected to see heavy use in LTE handset applications. The model SKY77441 operates from 2.3 to 2.7 GHz with +26 dBm linear output power with QPSK or QAM signals and +28 dBm output power with WCDMA modulation. Supplied in a 4 x 4 x 0.85 mm 16-pin package, it features integrated input and output matching networks and can operate with supplies as low as +3 VDC. According to Dr. Gene A. Tkachenko, Senior Director of Engineering responsible for LTE development at Skyworks, "Skyworks’ new multi-mode, multi-band LTE power amplifier enables enhanced talk, viewing and broadcast times, while complying with the stringent linearity requirements across wide frequency ranges."
