Integrated Tuner Serves ISDB-T
Sep 23, 2008 6:46 PM

The MAX2163A is an integrated silicon tuner for use in one- and three-segment ISDB-T applications at VHF and UHF. Designed to receive ISDB-T broadcasts in Brazil and Japan, the tuner is ideal for integration into cellular telephones and other portable devices. Based on an advanced silicon-germanium (SiGe) BiCMOS process, the tuner features a 99-dB dynamic range. It provides all of the circuit blocks needed to receive ISDB-T, except a crystal and cellular rejection filter. Internal RF blocks include variable bandwidth lowpass filters, optional VHF and UHF tracking filters, and on-chip power detectors that enable closed-loop automatic gain control (AGC) of the device. Control is achieved through a two- or four-wire digital interface, and the IC can be shut down through either the digital bus or a hardware pin.
