Product Emulates LTE Mobile Device Nov 13, 2008 11:01 AM
Qasara announced the availability of its Virtual LTE Mobile product, designed to accelerate the development of infrastructure and terminal equipment for the 3GPP Long Term Evolution (LTE) wireless communications standards. The product, developed in collaboration with test-equipment supplier Rohde & Schwarz, incorporates a fully instrumented LTE protocol stack, emulating an LTE mobile device. The Virtual LTE Mobile is fully interoperable with the Rohde & Schwarz's 3GPP LTE Virtual Tester for ease of emulation. Qasara’s implementation allows peer-to-peer testing of the complex interactions and data flows between the LTE Medium Access Control (MAC), Radio Link Control (RLC) and Packet Data Convergence Protocol (PDCP) Layers, all configured via Access Stratum and Non-Access Stratum control plane procedures. The new product, which can be run in multiple instances, is designed to accelerate the development of interoperable LTE products without the complexity, unreliability and cost of prototype hardware. According to Michael Barkway, Chief Executive at Qasara, "This product is a result of the excellent partnership we have with Rohde & Schwarz. This product enables technology developers to put an independent reference design on the desk of every engineer building LTE products.” Qasara (www.qasara.com)
