VHF/UHF Transmitter Sends OOK/ASK/FSK
Sep 11, 2008 4:28 PM

The model MAX7057 VHF/UHF transmitter integrated circuit (IC) from Maxim Integrated Products (www.maxim-ic.com) is a crystal-references, phase-lock-loop (PLL) transmitter capable of sending OOK/ASK/FSK data over a frequency range of 300 to 450 MHz and can transmit data rates to 100 kb/s non-return-to-zero (NRZ). The transmitter features a fractional-N PLL frequency synthesizer with wideband voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO). It also includes internal capacitors that can be set to match the impedance of the transmit amplifier. The low-cost transmitter is ideal for a variety of "utility" wireless applications, such as home security systems, remote controls, and garage-door openers. The MAX7057 operates from a single +2.1 to +3.6 VDC supply and draws less than 8.4 mA current in transmit mode for 50-percent duty-cycle OOK transmissions. It is priced at $1.55 and up.
