Chatsworth, Calif. -- Natel Engineering Co. Inc. announced it acquired the assets of Scrantom Engineering Inc., a Solectron Corp. company.

The new company will become an part of Natel's capabilities in microelectronic packaging, and will be known as Scrantom Inc., a Natel company. Scrantom will continue to operate out of its facility in Costa Mesa, California.

Scrantom provides custom, multilayer packages and substrates using low temperature co-fired ceramic (LTCC) and thick film technologies. A Natel company statement says Scrantom pioneered many of the processes used in LTCC and thick film fabrication.
