Douglas Miron, David Lide, Farid Dowla, Ron Olexa

Publisher: Newnes

Aimed at communications engineers, designers and project managers, this book covers a wide range of topics. It begins with a survey of RF and wireless technology. It then covers specific subjects in dedicated chapters. These include: communications protocols and modulation, transmitters, receivers, radio propagation, antenna fundamentals (in two chapters), basics of WLANs, outdoor networks, and Vo-Fi and other wireless technologies.

The book also covers other subjects in the same manner, including: security in WLANs, system planning, system implementation/testing/optimization, next-generation wireless networks, mobile ad hoc networks, wireless sensor networks, reliable wireless networks for industrial applications, SDR, the basics of RFID, UWB spectrum and regulation, interference and coexistence, direct-sequence UWB, and multiband UWB.

Additionally, the book covers the emerging and promising technology of cognitive radio, including history. The book also covers SDR as a Platform for cognitive radio, as well as the subjects of spectrum awareness, and the technologies used for SDR implementation. Finally, the book covers the subjects of direct sequence and frequency-hopping spread spectrum, RF PAs, modern PLL techniques, and orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing.
