Sensor Tuner Nearing Completion
Jul 10, 2008 11:12 AM

During the recent Microwave Theory & Techniques Society (MTT-S) Symposium and Exhibition in Atlanta, GA, Maury Microwave showcased its Sensor Tuner, designed for performing load-pull measurements in real time at fundamental and harmonic frequencies. The novel impedance tuner, which was introduced a year earlier at the Hawaii MTT-S as a developmental product, is designed for a specially equipped vector network analyzer (VNA) to extract large-signal device data at user-defined impedance states.

The recent demonstrations showed the tuner and a VNA making non-50-ohm large-signal, load-pull measurements. The company is working to bring the sensor tuner technology to the industry in the near term, with both the large-signal VNA and the Sensor Tuner supported by the firm's newly released Version 5.0 of Maury's Automated Tuner System (ATS) software. Further refinements of the software will add to the range of applications for the Sensor Tuner.
