Twin Transistor Offers Double-Duty Integration Dec 16, 2008 5:56 PM
The model UPA828TD Twin Transistor from NEC, and available from California Eastern Labs (CEL), combines two closely matched silicon NPN (model NE687) transistor chips in a common 1.2 x 1.0 x 0.5 mm, six-pin leadless RoHS-compliant package. The Twin Transistor is ideal for applications in voltage-controlled oscillators (VCOs), where one device can be used for the oscillator and the other for the buffer amplifier. Typical performance at 2 GHz, +1-VDC, and 3 mA current includes a noise figure of 1.3 dB and gain of 7.5 GHz. The devices feature a transition (cutoff) frequency of 9 GHz. Its small size and extremely low power consumption make it a great choice for portable, battery-powered products. California Eastern Labs (www.cel.com)
