Airband Communications, Inc. announced expanded coverage and capacity of its high-bandwidth solutions in Houston. As part of its national expansion strategy, the company has increased its market reach and service area in the Houston market by 50 percent. The expansion also includes a doubling of Airband’s network capacity driven by local customer demands for higher bandwidth services.

Airband owns and operates the leading fixed-wireless network based on WiMAX technology. Airband’s network bypasses the traditional wireline infrastructure, so customers benefit from faster installations, rapid bandwidth upgrades and more accessible customer care. Airband currently serves more than 3,500 customers nationwide.

Airband first entered Houston in 2001, making it one of the company’s largest and most established markets. As part of the Houston expansion, Airband has turned up new base stations around Northwest Freeway, Arena Towers, West Chase and Sugarland. Each base station provides coverage for a three- to five-mile radius area. In addition, Airband upgraded its existing network infrastructure to further broaden its service coverage and market reach.
