Staccato expands presence in Asia May 8, 2008 1:46 PM
Certified wireless USB supplier Staccato Communications has expanded its global sales force to increase its presence in Asia. The new additions include Jeff Gray to vice president of worldwide sales and business development, Manjul Agrawal to director of sales for Japan and Korea, Hoffei Hou to director of sales for Taiwan and Greater China, and Sampan Chen to field applications engineering director for Asia. This team expansion demonstrates Staccato’s clear focus on Asia for both indigenous suppliers as well as OEMs. Gray brings over 23 years in the semiconductor business. And, most recently, he was vice president of sales at GloNav, a supplier of GPS silicon and software, which was acquired by NXP. Agrawal joins Staccato from Broadcom through the Sandburst acquisition, where he was director of sales for Asia. Hou comes to Staccato with a strong background in the PC and CE segments having been AVP at CoAsia Microelectronics Corp as well as Taiwan country manager for Transmeta. Chen will lead Staccato’s technical support efforts locally in Asia having held similar roles at GPS start-up GloNav and UWB start-up Artimi. Gray, Agrawal, Hou and Chen will be responsible for managing and increasing sales of Staccato’s Ripcord single-chip, all-CMOS certified wireless USB solutions in their respective regions. “These new additions to our team bring the skills and experience necessary that will allow Staccato to scale its global sales operations and strongly position itself for significant growth in UWB,” said Marty Colombatto, chairman and CEO, Staccato Communications. “As a result of this significant organizational expansion, Staccato will have the necessary resources in place to ensure excellent customer service, pursue new sales opportunities, and focus on accelerating the production ramp up and delivery of low-cost wireless connectivity solutions to customers worldwide.” “I am pleased and excited to join the Staccato team as we, and the UWB market in general are poised for explosive growth as evidenced by the significant design activity at key OEMs and ODMs,” said Gray. “In order to support this growth, we have put in place a very aggressive deployment strategy first and foremost by adding key hires to our sales organization with extensive experience in relevant markets and customers, and also with the physical expansion of our worldwide offices, which we have successfully opened this month with new business and technical support locations in Shinagawa, Japan, Neihu, Taiwan, and GangNam, Korea. Each of these locations will have direct sales and technical support.” www.staccatocommunications.com
